This tool is meant to be used by attorneys and advocates working with domestic violence survivors to help them determine if a client might be facing consumer law issues that would necessitate referral to a consumer rights attorney or advocate. The document begins with an explanation of how consumer issues can affect survivors. General screening questions to be used for issue-spotting are then provided. It is suggested to use the questions as a starting point for dialogue rather than feeling the need to run through all the questions like a checklist.
