This guide is aimed at staff of prosecutors’ victim-witness programs or community-based advocacy programs who need to support victims when their cases have been reopened for post-conviction DNA testing or when the person originally convicted of the crime is later exonerated. Both situations can be extremely traumatizing for victims. The guide goes over what victims’ rights are when these situations occur and how to support a victim going through these situations.
