"Unlike most of the literature currently available on vicarious trauma, this guidebook explores the response to vicarious trauma within certain communities and cultural groups to add to the wealth of information and solutions. It discusses the experiences of First Nations, Francophone, Disabled, and LGBT women and how their experiences may differ from mainstream groups. Additionally, this guidebook has a large section to address possible organizational solutions to vicarious trauma and recognizes that the most effective way of reducing the effects of vicarious trauma in the workplace is through supportive organizational structures, policies, and practices combined with individual self-care."
