This toolkit consists of national and state reports for the National Domestic Violence Hotline (The Hotline). In the first half of 2015, The Hotline documented 79,038 contacts across the country. For the purposes of the reports contained in this toolkit, a documented contact refers to telephone calls and online chats where callers or chatters self-disclosed their location.
Key statistics from the National Hotline Report for the first half of the year include:
- 64.1 percent of the documented telephone calls and online chats to The Hotline were from victims and survivors of intimate partner violence.
- 39.2 percent of the victims and survivors who contacted The Hotline were between 25 and 35 years old.
- 95 percent of victims and survivors who contacted The Hotline experienced emotional or verbal abuse; 67 percent experienced physical abuse.
