This publication offers practical suggestions and tools that law enforcement agencies can use to effectively and meaningfully communicate with individuals with limited-English proficiency. This report offers guidance on how to create language access policies, staff trainings, and partnerships with local community organizations. It draws upon lessons learned from a project involving the Vera Institute of Justice and law enforcement agencies in various jurisdictions that was funded by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
