This law review advances the argument that activists working to combat domestic violence should advocate against the current system of mass incarceration. The article details three ways in which mass incarceration is linked to domestic violence: causing economic instability for the incarcerated person and his or her family; contributing to mental health problems such as posttraumatic stress disorder in the incarcerated person; and causing instability and loss of support systems within neighborhoods (p. 598).
