The Federal Partners Committee on Women and Trauma is an outgrowth of the SAMHSA-sponsored ÐFederal Intergovernmental Partnership on Mental Health Transformation Working Group on Women and Trauma. The Federal Partners Committee came together with the collective mission of developing strategies to address the consequences of trauma on women. This report provides background on women and trauma, describes a Roundtable held on April 29, 2010, and presents an outline of what the Committee plans for the coming year.
The report illustrates the importance of listening to and incorporating the voices of people who have been directly impacted by trauma, and describes Ðtrauma-informed care, a new approach to addressing trauma that can be implemented in any setting. ÐIn a trauma-informed framework, prevention programs, human services, government agencies, and civic groups work together to create healthier, safer, more healing and more productive communities.
