Building Collaborations to Help Immigrant Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

Congress created the visa to help both noncitizen victims of crime and law enforcement working with this vulnerable community. Realidades Latinas: A National Survey on the Impact of Immigration and Language Access on Latina Survivors
Publisher(s):This report provides an analysis of the results of a survey administered over a period of six weeks to over 1,300 Hotline callers who identified as Latin@ survivors of domestic violence. The questions were geared towards survivors’ experiences accessing services and demonstrated the challenges faced by survivors due to language access issues.

Preventing sexual violence in Latin@ communities: A national needs assessment
Publisher(s):This comprehensive report details advocates needs related to sexual violence in Latin@ communities. For example, while 91.4% of advocates who responded to the national survey said their organization has identified demographics of their intended service population, just 19.3% thought that their clients served matched those demographics; also, participants consistently discussed the importance of creating culturally specific materials that truly reflect the culture of Latin@ and/or Spanish-speaking communities.” This report is also available in Spanish.

Confronting Commercial Sexual Exploitation and Sex Trafficking of Minors in the United States
Publisher(s):With support from the Department of Justices (DOJ) Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), the Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council formed a committee to conduct a study of crimes of sexual exploitation as they affect citizens and lawful permanent residents of the United States under age 18.
