Session 3: Rooted in Community: Reflections on a 20 Year Journey | Sesión 3: Arraigados en la comunidad: Reflexiones sobre un viaje de 20 años

The National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, in collaboration with partners from across the Pacific Coast region of the United States, held our third virtual Prevention Town Hall on September 14 and 15, 2022. This event was an opportunity to dig deeply into the theme “Prevention is Radical” across 2 days.

Young people have always been on the front lines of our social justice movements, pushing us to be bolder and more innovative. The July 2022 Technical Assistance Question of the Month (TAQ) offers some key considerations for forming and sustaining a youth advisory board for your domestic violence organization.

Sexual violence is a serious – yet preventable – public health problem. The 2016/2017 report on sexual violence includes updated data for women and men overall and by race and ethnicity and provides information on the types of perpetrators, age at first victimization, and associated health conditions among victims of sexual violence.

This toolkit is aimed towards service providers, public health educators, advocates, and anyone who would like to inform their community about PFL and paid sick days in the state of California. This toolkit complements existing resources by providing a “train the trainer” curriculum to expand the community of individuals who understand their rights and can teach others.

This white paper from the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence explores how all local and statewide organizations, corporations, workplaces, and sectors can consider ways to adopt and advance policies that promote economic equity and revamp policies that may hinder success, stability, and safety for employees and communities.

How do we support women and girls, and assist advocates in creating brave spaces and thriving communities while we dismantle biased systems?

This report highlights juvenile justice and public safety concerns and recommendations from Tribal youth ages 14–24.

En él se estudian formas de crear capacidad individual y a nivel organizativo para hacer frente a la desigualdad en materia de salud. Y, ofrece un llamado a la acción para aquellos quienes están dispuestos a comprometerse con la equidad de la salud en su trabajo de prevención de la violencia de género.

This blueprint provides a nonprescriptive roadmap to how we can build collaborative relationships with community partners within and outside the anti-sexual violence movement. It identifies best practices, models, and resources for creating, encouraging, and preserving community collaborations both in conventional and innovative ways, hence strengthening the capacity of our sexual assault programs and bridging the gaps with other social service organizations and institutions.

In this strategy session from NRCDV's 2021 Prevention Town Hall, presenters will intentionally center Black people’s stories and lived experiences as the impetus for integrating a racial justice-centric approach into our work and mission.
