Prevention Programming Content Topic Results

This Prevention Storybook represents the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence's attempt to wrap their arms around prevention learnings from the past ten years. The storybook outlines ICADV's rationale and framework for prevention and details successful prevention strategies throughout Indiana.

The current standards and expectations of manhood have an undeniable impact on our relationships and our society. Inspired by the courage and vulnerability of women and survivors in the #metoo movement, speaker Mazin Jamal shares his struggles with manhood, mistakes he's made, and the steps he's taking to learn and grow in this TED Talk. 

Because preventing gender-based violence is everyone’s responsibility, and because men are particularly well positioned to influence masculine norms and men’s behavior,  NRCDV's November 2018 TA Question of the Month, authored by Colleen Yeakle of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, asks “What else can men do to prevent domestic and sexual violence?”

Through this webinar participants will learn ways to enhance their community engagement efforts, learn about the importance of including storytelling in their efforts by leveraging the #1Thing messaging. 

NRCDV is proud to offer " My One Thing," a new 4 part mini series for #DVAM2018. Each week in October will feature the unique perspectives of advocates, survivors, and other community members who have been impacted by or are working to end gender-based violence.

The #1Thing Action Guide includes templates, recommendations, strategies, and tools for incorporating this message into your public awareness activities and campaigns during DVAM, and beyond.

Included in the guide are the basics of messaging strategies, the components of an effective message, "rules of the road" for sexual violence prevention messaging, and lots of sample messages to get you started.

This study estimated the U.S. lifetime per-victim cost and economic burden of intimate partner violence, finding that preventing intimate partner violence is possible and could avoid substantial costs.
