FreeFrom, a California-based nonprofit, has launched a self-help compensation tool for survivors of domestic violence.

This February, the Domestic Violence Awareness Project of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence lends our voice and support to focus attention to young activists working to prevent and address gender-based violence and advance social justice. 

The judge allowed scores of accusers to give victim impact statements during the sentencing. She said she took their statements into account, explaining that the others who spoke added to the credibility of the seven whose cases were before her.

Experiences of trauma in childhood "literally get under our skin, changing people in ways that can endure in their bodies for decades," Dr. Nadine Burke Harris writes in her new book.

"I march because I am disturbed by how women, especially women of color, LGBTQ+ and disabled women, are being treated in this country," said Olivia Bartholomew, 18, who is marching in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

While transphobic violence from strangers accounts for many of the murders of transgender women, Christa Steele-Knudslien’s death underscores another issue the community faces: domestic abuse and intimate partner violence.
