This session will continue the conversation about how to effectively manage anti-trafficking programs utilizing the principles of trauma-informed care when responding to common situations that arise between colleagues, between direct line staff and leadership, and between the program and community stakeholders. Participants are asked to arrive with a common challenge they face in running an effective program in order to receive feedback.

Hope has emerged as one of the top protective factors leading to well-being. This Center for Victim Research workshop will discuss the science of hope as a psychological strength in our ability to cope with adversity and trauma. This workshop will summarize over 15 years of research that show (1) hope predicts positive outcomes, (2) hope buffers the effects of adversity, and (3) hope can be influenced and sustained.
Deaf individuals in the United States face domestic or sexual violence rates equal to or higher than hearing individuals but often encounter systemic barriers and challenges when seeking help. This webinar will explore working with Deaf crime victims, such as victims of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and financial crimes. Language and communication methods in the Deaf community and the societal impact of audism will be examined. Information on “For the Deaf by the Deaf” programs and other resources benefiting Deaf victims in their communities will also be shared.
Trans/nonbinary communities are disproportionately impacted by COVID and Long COVID. Many of us are navigating the effects of multiple forms of trauma, disability, and isolation, while trying to care for ourselves and others. In this event, FORGE staff will engage in conversation on the connections between COVID and trauma, strategize ways to build community care and navigate trauma, and share stories of moving through the world as COVID cautious trans/nonbinary people.
