The Partnership will hold a one-day Symposium designed for the sustainability of Domestic Violence programs and service providers across the State. This event will bring together leaders, advocates, funders, foundations, and other Grantmakers to explore and workshop key strategies to diversify funding for critical programs and services. Participants will gain essential tools for crafting strategic development plans, explore current and emerging initiatives; such as Cal-AIM, and workshop innovative approaches to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.
The Deaf community experiences domestic and sexual violence at significantly higher rates and survivors often face numerous barriers that hinder their ability to seek help. Many service providers lack the necessary training to effectively respond to and support the unique needs of this community.
Pets can play a crucial role in the emotional and physical well-being of older adults, offering companionship, reducing feelings of loneliness, lowering stress, providing opportunities for physical exercise and engagement with the community, and, for some, providing assistance with day-to-day activities. Per the Pew Research Center, most Americans (62%) own a pet, and nearly all U.S. pet owners (97%) say their pets are part of their family. Sadly, abusers often exploit these strong emotional bonds with pets to control and manipulate their victims.
