In September 2020, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence held its first National Prevention Town Hall. In this breakout session, presenters Merkeb Yohannes and Layla Elabed from the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic & Sexual Violence (MCEDSV) share lessons learned from MCEDSV's efforts to center economic justice and wage equity at all levels of their work, both internally and externally.

Efforts to promote economic justice are critical to preventing domestic violence and supporting survivors. The August 2020 TA Question of the Month explores 3 key strategies for furthering the prevention of sexual and domestic violence through economic justice.

Through their Safety Fund launched in April 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, FreeFrom collected data from 1,300 survivors in 36 states and Puerto Rico on their financial health, the financial cost of experiencing abuse, what their needs are right now, and how our society can best support them through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. This report details these findings and serves as a call to action for greater investment in and support for the long-term financial security and safety of survivors everywhere.
