In the spirit of respect, gratitude and solidarity on this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
This 8th of March, we honor the efforts of women around the world who have worked tirelessly to enhance women’s access to education, health, autonomy, equity and safety. The staff of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence join with our sisters, mothers, friends, daughters, and loved ones to nurture our collective strength in realizing a better world for women and girls – this day and every day.
This year, join @VAWnet for the Global Tweet-a-thon to #EndVAW | Tuiter-a-tón Gobal de #EndVAW hosted by International Planned Parenthood Federation/ Western Hemisphere Region (@IPPF_WHR). On Friday, March 8, thousands of voices will come together on Twitter under the hashtag #EndVAW in a 24-hour, global event to raise awareness about gender-based violence.
Our goal is to strengthen the work of advocates at the Commission on the Status of Women, as they urge governments to fulfill commitments to eliminate violence against women and girls.
Dozens of organizations and individuals working towards safety, freedom, and justice have signed on as partners to co-host each hour of the Tweet-a-thon. @VAWnet will tweet during the 10am Eastern Hour, and during the course of the campaign you will also hear from @PreventConnect, @MenStopViolence, @RHRealityCheck, @WomenDeliver, @CWGL_Rutgers and many others!
Follow the event and tweet along at #EndVAW #CSW57 #IWD2013. You can RSVP for this global event on Facebook and view and share engaging campaign images on Pinterest.
