Federal resources are critical to reducing and eliminating violence. Both the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies (LHHS) Appropriations Subcommittee and the House Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee proposed bills that will maintain some supports for survivors, such as FVPSA programs and rental assistance programs, but also eliminate critical elements that support survivor and community safety and justice.
Eliminating vital programs such as the Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement and Leadership Through Alliances (DELTA) Program and Rape Prevention Education Program (RPE), as well as funding for vital programs such as eviction legal assistance grants, will endanger many survivors and communities. These programs save lives and must be sustained.
We must invest in services that promote survivors’ safety and well-being.
Safety for survivors and their communities includes investing in prevention and education.
Justice for survivors and their communities includes investing in advancing equitable solutions and approaches.
Safety for survivors is investing in responses to climate and environmentally driven displacement.
Justice for survivors is investing in civil legal responses that will defend their ability to remain safely housed.
