Nearly 20 million people experience domestic violence, sexual violence or stalking by intimate partners every year in the United States. Nearly 1,300 women die from intimate partner violence and nearly two million are injured each year. This fact sheet outlines how a national paid sick and safe days standard would help provide victims and survivors the support and job stability they need to escape and address violence.

This paper explores strategies to reduce violent behavior, both physical violence and all other forms of abuse,  using a victim-defined approach. It recognizes that reducing violence is central to our mission, difficult, and long been a part of our advocacy to make victims safer. 

Protective orders, also called restraining orders, protection orders, or injunctions depending on the state, can be an invaluable tool that survivors can utilize to obtain safety. This Technical Assistance (TA) Bundle includes TA Questions (TAQs) featuring creative programming ideas that advocates can adapt or replicate in their agencies to support survivor empowerment and healing. These TAQS are intended to inspire advocates to think outside the box and to build bridges and forge new alliances with non-traditional partners.
