This section highlights national organizations that provide services to trans and nonbinary people and advocate for trans rights. Note that this is not an exhaustive list.

Black Trans Advocacy is a national social justice organization working to overcome violence and injustice in the world through the power, value and  love of all people. The Black Trans Advocacy program provides referral services, case management and direct services, as well as organizing the Annual National Black Trans Advocacy Conference.

Brown Boi Project is a community of masculine of center womyn, men, two-spirit people, transmen, and allies committed to changing the way that communities of color talk about gender. Brown Boi Project works across race and gender to eradicate sexism, homophobia and transphobia and create healthy frameworks of masculinity and change. 

FORGE is a national transgender anti-violence organization, founded in 1994. In addition to providing direct services to transgender, gender non-conforming and gender non-binary survivors of sexual assault, it serves as the only transgender-focused organization federally funded to provide training and technical assistance to providers around the country who work with transgender survivors of sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking.

INCITE! is a nation-wide network of radical feminists of color working to end violence against women, gender non-conforming, and trans people of color, and their communities. They work to support each other through direct action, critical dialogue, and grassroots organizing.

Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.

National Center for Lesbian Rights works to advance the civil and human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and their families through litigation, legislation, policy, and public education. NCLR does a great deal of work focusing on trans youth, parenting, and transgender law.

National Center for Transgender Equality is a national social justice organization devoted to ending discrimination and violence against transgender people through education and advocacy on national issues of importance to transgender people.

National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs works to prevent, respond to, and end all forms of violence against and within LGBTQ communities. They strive to increase power, safety and resources through data analysis, policy advocacy, education and technical assistance.

National Resource Center on LGBT Aging is the country's first and only technical assistance resource center aimed at improving the quality of services and supports offered to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender older adults. They provide training, technical assistance and educational resources to aging providers, LGBT organizations and LGBT older adults. Their website includes a section specific to resources on Transgender Aging.

NW Network of Bi, Trans, Lesbian and Gay Survivors of Abuse works to end violence and abuse by building loving and equitable relationships in our communities and across the country. The NW Network increases our communities’ ability to support the self-determination and safety of bisexual, transgender, lesbian and gay survivors of abuse through education, organizing and advocacy. Survivors in need of support can call the NW Network at 206-568-7777.

Sylvia Rivera Law Project works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination or violence. SRLP is a collective organization founded on the understanding that gender self-determination is inextricably intertwined with racial, social and economic justice. Therefore, SRLP seeks to increase the political voice and visibility of low-income people and people of color who are transgender, intersex, or gender non-conforming and to improve access to respectful and affirming social, health, and legal services.

Transgender Law Center works to change law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression. TLC envisions a future where gender self-determination and authentic expression are seen as basic rights and matters of common human dignity. Although they work primarily in California, TLC does national work and has a referral bank for legal information.

TransLatin@ Coalition advocates for the unique and specific needs of Trans Latin@s who are immigrants residing in the United States. The vision of TransLatin@ Coalition is to amplify education and resources to promote the empowerment of Trans leaders. 

Trans Youth Equality Foundation provides education, advocacy and support for transgender and gender non-conforming children and youth and their families. They partner with families, educators, and service providers to help foster a healthy, caring, and safe environment for all transgender children.
